Futuristic Citroen luxury lounge on wheels
Sep 14, 2011, 3:06 GMT
Frankfurt - Citroen is unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show a futuristic interpretation of the legendary Citroen H van that dominated French roads between the 1940s and 1980s with the modern Citroen Tubik concept however revealing a sumptuous interior that turns the vehicle into a luxury lounge on wheels.
With only the front section taking the stylistic cue from the classic predecessor, the Tubik comes with oversized side windows that blend with the polished silver exterior.
A large door opens up to an interior like a garage door with seats that can be arranged in varying positions. The centre seats can be turned into a table while the rear seat forms a chaise longue, giving passengers a perfect view of a large entertainment screen.
The Tubik is powered by a diesel hybrid also found in the Citroen DS5 with a combustion engine driving the front wheels while the rear wheels are driven by an electric motor in combination with a hydro-pneumatic chassis that lowers the vehicle during travel for a more comfortable ride and improved fuel consumption.
