Makeover for Volvo XC90
Sep 14, 2011, 3:06 GMT
Frankfurt - Volvo has given its XC90 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) a makeover with some changes to the interior and only slight modifications to the exterior design.
Celebrating its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the XC90 seven-seater sports a new instrument panel and a new three-spoke steering wheel. Aluminium applications give it a premium look.
The Volvo on Call communication system now has a Bluetooth socket and has been extended with a Smartphone application.
The system makes it possible to pinpoint the vehicle via Google-Maps and gives the driver information on average fuel consumption, average speed, malfunctions and service intervals. The heating system can also be programmed via Smartphone while the vehicle is parked.
Exterior modifications include marginal changes to the daylight running lights, bumpers and doors. The tail-lights are fitted with a LED braking light and integrated indicators.
Orders can be placed soon after the Frankfurt Motor Show ends this month with prices starting in Europe at just under 40,000 euros (56,000 dollars) for the XC90 D3 Geartronic front wheel drive version. It is listed with a consumption of 8.2 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres with a carbon dioxide emission figure of 216 grammes per kilometre.
The power units are in the range between 163 and 243 hp with the choice of a six cylinder petrol engine and two turbo diesel engined versions.
