Lotus with street car version of GTE racer
Aug 24, 2011, 3:06 GMT
Pebble Beach, California - British sports car maker Lotus has presented a street car version of the GTE racer at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, testing public reaction on whether to build a low volume number of the super sports car.
The Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept comes with a power unit with an output of 426 hp linked to a race car transmission. For owners wishing to take it for a spin on the track it is equipped with a 'civilian version' roll-over cage.
From the exterior the Lotus Evora GTE Road Car Concept strikes the eye with large air intakes and wide semi-slick tyres from Pirelli. The rear is fitted with a large wing for more downward pressure.
Marking at the same time the end of the Exige production, Lotus is making available exclusively for the North American market 25 final edition Exige units in matte black finish. Each of the cars is fitted with its own numbered plate. Powered by a 260 hp engine the car also comes with black Alacantara sport seats.
