Hotter version of next generation VW Beetle already in pipeline
Jul 20, 2011, 3:06 GMT
Kempten, Germany - German tuning house Abt is geared up to make the sporty, third generation VW Beetle go even faster.
The face-lifted 'people's car' from Volkswagen is not due in European showrooms until October but the Abt catalogue already features a tuning package with front spoiler, faired sills and larger 19 inch light-alloy wheels.
The new Beetle hits showrooms in North America in September and reaches Asia next February.
Bavarian-based Abt, which specializes in working on standard VW and Audi models, will also squeeze a further 30 horsepower from the 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine version. The unit is familiar from the Golf range and is no slouch in standard form with 200 hp on tap. Prices have not yet been disclosed.
In keeping with the latest automotive trends, the new Beetle features clean engines and a high degree of personalization together with a high-tech panoramic roof, keyless entry and bi-xenon lights.
