Last Bugatti Veyron supercar is sold

Molsheim, France - Anyone planning to buy a Bugatti Veyron coupe has missed the boat since the last example of the iconic supercar has just been sold. It went to an undisclosed European customer for 2.37 million dollars, the factory in France has announced.
The Veyron was introduced in 2003 and was always intended to be a limited edition of 300. The car was named after driver Pierre Veyron who won the Le Mans 24 hour endurance race for the original Bugatti factory in 1939.
The final customer took delivery of a Super Sport version of what is the fastest street legal production car in the world. The 16 cylinder engine propels the car to just over 431 kilometres an hour while stock versions are governed down to a maximum of 415 km/h. The Veyron also needs less than 2.5 seconds to leap from zero to 100 km/h (62 miles an hour).
Other features of the superlative sports car are a seven-gear, twin-clutch gearbox that produces almost instantaneous shifts, carbon-ceramic brakes and a rear air-brake spoiler, which together slow the Veyron to a standstill from 60mph in a mere 2.3 seconds.
Fuel consumption is alarmingly high by normal car standards. The Veyron guzzles 29 litres of fuel per 100 km of city driving. At full throttle a staggering 78 litres of fuel are burned each 100 km.
When announcing the sale of the final Yeyron, Bugatti said the story of its 'exceptional sports car' would continue. A convertible version of the Veyron, the Grand Sport, is still on sale. The fastest ragtop in the world can be driven out of the showroom in exchange for just over 2 million dollars.
