Jun 8, 2011, 3:07 GMT
Paris - The Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 4 has won a German eco award as the most economical diesel car. A British magazine awarded the car with a similar award recently.
The KS Energy and Environmental Prize 2011 was awarded by the German Association for Driver Protection, which annually hands the award to companies for energy conservation and environmental protection.
Diesel Car magazine in Britain also chose the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 4 among 300 cars tested as the best in its class.
The 3008 Hybrid 4 is powered by a 120 kW/163 horsepower (hp) Hdi engine, in addition to a 27 kW/37 hp electric motor at the rear. The combination of diesel engine and electric motor reduces consumption and emissions by up to 35 per cent, according to the car maker.
Consumption is listed at 3.8 litres per 100 kilometres, which translates to a carbon dioxide emission figure of 99 grams per kilometre.
