Germans have 63 fuel-frugal cars from which to choose

Stuttgart - Motorists in Germany can currently choose between a total of 63 models which consume less than five litres of fuel per 100 kilometres.
According to auto, motor und sport magazine, the most frugal car on offer in Germany is the VW Polo 1.2 TDI Blue Motion, which consumes 3.3 litres of diesel, followed by the 1.6-litre version of the Polo Blue Motion (3.4 litres), and both the Smart Coupe CDI and Polo 1.6 TDI (3.6 litres).
The petrol-electric Toyota Prius uses 3.9 litres of fuel to cover 100 kilometres, giving it a lead on the conventional petrol-driven Daihatsu Cuore 1.0, Suzuki Alto 1.0 and Peugeot 107 70. All three turned-in an average fuel consumption of 4.2 litres.
