Stuttgart - The Porsche 911 GT3 RS, billed by its German makers as the ultimate sporting version of the iconic car, will debut at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show from September 17-27.
The uprated, normally-aspirated 3.8-litre engine mated to a six-speed gearbox turns out 450 brake horsepower, 15 more than the standard revamped 911 turbo which also weighs in at the German show and will be available at European dealers from November.
The 911 GT3 RS will go on sale from next January priced from 145,871 euros (207,600 dollars). No performance or fuel consumption figures have been released by Porsche in Stuttgart.
Fuel consumption for the new standard 911 turbo is listed by Porsche at 11.4 litres per 100 kilometres compared to 12.8 litres for the previous model. The zero to 100 kilometre sprint is down from 3.9 to 3.4 seconds with the top speed marginally higher from 310 to 312 km/h.
A wider track and an outsize carbon-fibre rear wing with aluminium supports set the top-of-the-range 911 GT3 RS apart from the rest of the Porsche stable, along with distinctive decals. The car also boasts an exhaust system made from near-indestructible titanium metal.
The showroom 911 GT3 RS is a street version of the homologated, limited edition developed expressly for the Porsche GT3 track racing series.
