Paris - A production version of the Peugeot 308 RCZ sports car is set to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, two years after making its debut at the same show in a concept version.
The French car maker has released teaser images of the sports car, closely resembling the original concept with a long nose, pronounced door sills and the humpback curve in the roof.
It is the first model in the Peugeot stable that will do without the numbers in its name and simply be called the RCZ.
Peugeot is keeping mum on the power unit but it is likely to be the 1.6-litre engine developed jointly by PSA and BMW and currently found in the MINI with an output of up to 211 hp. The diesel version is expected to be fitted with a 163 hp 2-litre unit.
The sales start is scheduled for early 2010, starting with a coupe version but a convertible to be expected at a later stage.
