Ingolstadt, Germany - The new Audi A5 Sportback, available at German dealers from September, joins the A5 family as the third member after the coupe and roadster versions, the car maker has announced.
Starting with an entry price of 36,050 euros (49,914 dollars), the five-door car combines the elegance of a coupe with the practicality of a sedan.
The coupe-design is emphasized by a long, tapering roofline that is slightly lower than the A4 sedan, short overhangs at the front and rear and frameless doors with slim windows.
All engines are direct injection - the diesel versions are sophisticated common rail TDI units while the petrol units are based on the FSI concept. All engines meet the EU5 exhaust emission standard. The diesel versions are equipped with particulate filters.
Initially the A5 Sportback will be available with a choice of two petrol and three diesel engines. The two petrol versions, the 2.0 TFSI quattro with an output of 155 kW/211 hp and the 3.2-litre V6 quattro generating 195 kW/265 hp are both equipped with the Audi valvelift system, producing more power but reducing fuel consumption, according to Audi.
