Paris The French car maker Citroen has revealed details of the DS3 concept that will become the first model of the new DS series, revealing a luxurious interior with body-hugging leather seats, flowing dashboard design with cone-shaped instruments and thick lounge-shaped carpets.
Scheduled for launch in 2010 the DS3 has been designed with a 'haute-couture' touch to give the owner a feeling of individuality, according to the car maker.
The styling project for the DS line has been led by British designer Mark Lloyd, starting with the DS3, which reminds one of the historic DS only by the name tag. The DS3 will be followed by the bigger DS4 and DS5 models.
The DS line is part of Citroen's new marketing offensive that includes a logo change with the chevrons broken free from the frame to symbolise a 'bridging' of the company's past and future. A deep red colour tone is also used for the new brand name typography.
The original DS was produced in the years 1955 to 1975 and was renowned for the futuristic Italian design and hydro pneumatic suspension.
