Volkswagen recalls 27,000 cars

Wolfsburg, Germany - Carmaker Volkswagen has recalled more than 27,000 cars because a defective electrical connection could become hot and cause a fire, the Germany company said Thursday. The recalled cars are diesel Volkswagen Jetta compact sedans and diesel station wagon versions of the Volkswagen Golf made between January 8, 2007 and January 9, 2008. A spokesman said an earth connection in the car heater had not been made properly. Garages are to repair the part free of charge. © 2008 dpa - Deutsche Presse-Agentur
