Detroit - General Motors presented the Cadillac CTS Coupe Concept in what it describes as a new design statement with the look of a 'carefully cut diamond' at the Detroit Motor Show.

'Just about every decade, Cadillac designs a breakthrough car that becomes synonymous with the brand's character of the period, such as the 1938 60 Special, the 1959 lineup, the 1975 Seville and the 2003 Sixteen Concept,' said Clay Dean, Cadillac's global design director.
The car is also designed for a new 2.9-litre turbodiesel being developed for international markets,' the car maker said in a press statement, delivering an estimated output of 250 hp.
The 3.6 litre V6 petrol motor has a performance of 229 kW/311 hp with a 15 per cent plus in output and a three per cent drop in fuel consumption, the car maker said.
The concept is based on the CTS sedan but shares only the instrument panel, console, headlamps, front fenders and grille. Unusual touches include 'classic hardtop styling,' without the B- pillar.
The CTS has won several awards in the U.S. including the Motor Trend Car of the Year 2008.
