“Twilight” star Kristen Stewart is being considered for the iconic role of Snow White in Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman,” a retelling of the classic Grimm fairy tale.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Viggo Mortensen is in talks to play the Huntsman while Charlize Theron is in talks to play the evil queen.
Rupert Sanders is directing from an Evan Daugherty script, with Joe Roth producing.
In the new version, the huntsman (who originally is supposed to kill Snow White but ends up letting her go) becomes her protector as they try to escape from the evil queen who wants Snow White dead.
The film is being fast-tracked to shoot this summer for a Dec. 21, 2012, release.
One of the reasons for the fast movement is the fact that there are several competing Snow White films being developed, one of which is set up at Relativity with Tarsem Singh directing.
Stewart is currently shooting the two “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” films. Note the date on this article may be incorrect due to importing it from our old system.
