Kevin Bacon takes on ‘X-Men’

Kevin Bacon has been cast as the lead villain in 20th Century Fox’s “X-Men: First Class.”

According to Variety, the identity of Bacon’s character is being kept under wraps.

Matthew Vaughn is directing from a script by Jane Goldsman.

The cast includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Alice Eve, Caleb Landry Jones and Nicholas Hoult.

Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer are producing.

The origin story of the “X-Men” franchise focuses on Charles Xavier (McAvoy) and Erik Lensherr (Fassbender) as young men before they became Professor X and Magneto respectively.

Jennifer Lawrence has also been cast as Mystique, the blue mutant who grows up to be a villain.
