Kanye West will be ‘Idol’-ized

Kanye West will appear on American Idol.

The 12-time Grammy Award winner Kanye West will perform his hit single, “Heartless,” on the Idol results show Wednesday, March 11 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.

West’s fourth consecutive chart-topping album, “808s & Heartbreak,” was released in November 2008 and has sold over 1.5 million copies to date. He has received numerous accolades for his latest album, and “Heartless” has been at the top of the charts for 16 weeks and counting.

On Tuesday, March 10 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), the Top 13 will take the stage for the first time and battle it out live for the Idol crown. Tune in the following night Wednesday, March 11 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) to the live results show to see West perform and to find out who receives enough votes to stay in the competition and who is sent home.

Kanye West says his “greatest pain in life” is not being able to watch himself perform because he is “God’s vessel.”  West says on the show “VH1 Storytellers” that he has learned to respect homosexuals: “If a black man from Chicago was taught to stand far away from gay people because he didn’t want to be accused of being gay. What would happen if he’d run into a gay man? What’s the talk? What would he learn, what would I learn? I learned that people in Chicago were wrong and I had been an asshole all along.”

Kanye acknowledges he has a big ego. He explained: “I do have an ego and rightfully so. I think people should have an ego.”
