Ja Rule and Lil Wayne busted in NYC for gun charges

Rappers Ja Rule and Lil Wayne were both arrested on Sunday in New York City and charged with criminal possession of a weapon. Lil Wayne is also facing drug charges.

Lil Wayne was arrested following a concert at Beacon Theatre in Manhattan. Officers reported seeing Lil Wayne (whose real name is Dwayne Carter) and another person smoking pot next to a tour bus on 61st Street and Columbus Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. Wayne and the other man were arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana. Police reported discovering a .40-caliber pistol during a search.

Ja Rule (whose real name is Jeff Atkins) was arrested at about 10:30 p.m. on West End Avenue. Police stated the rapper was in a luxury sedan that was speeding. Officers reported finding a .40-caliber pistol inside the vehicle during the traffic stop, and arrested Ja Rule and the other vehicle occupants.
