Idol’s “Velvet Teddy Bear” returns with a new studio album

American Idol winner Ruben Studdard is back on store shelves today, Oct. 17th, with the release of his new studio album ‘The Return’ and with the singer’s new hit single “Change Me.”

Studdard’s new album sees the singer teaming up with hot R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo and renowned producer Scott Storch. Studdard was dubbed the “Velvet Teddy Bear” by legendary singer Gladys Knight right before he won the American Idol title in the second season. Now the singer is back sporting a new look, but the same signature sound.

Studdard released ‘Soulful’ in 2003 which went Platinum and ‘I Need an Angel’ in 2004 which went Gold. During his two year hiatus, Ruben took stock and decided to commit to change his life for a healthier existence. He shed some weight and got back in the studio healthier, happier and ready to return to mainstream music singing love songs just for his fans.
