“American Idol” winner and country music singing star Carrie Underwood has announced plans to join other musicians as part of a literacy campaign. The singer will appear on a poster for the Oklahoma Library Association’s “Read Y’all” literacy campaign.
Underwood will be joined by other country singers, Hollywood actors, famous authors, and sports figures. Others signed to appear on the posters include country music megastar Toby Keith, actress Kristin Chenoweth, actor James Garner, author Dana Dunbar and New Orleans Hornets star Desmond Mason.
The posters featuring Underwood will be available for free to every academic, public, school and special library in the state, according to Buffy Edwards, the poster coordinator for the campaign.
Edwards has stated Underwood “represents Oklahoma in such a positive manner” due to her upbringing and her pride in Oklahoma. She also believes the singer’s appearance on the posters will appeal to a wide age range for the campaign.
