Idol runner-up McPhee to release first single in June

American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee is set to release a double sided single for her new label RCA Records that will feature both the original “My Destiny” and McPhee’s cover of “Over The Rainbow”. The single is set to be released by June 27th.

McPhee’s performance of “Over The Rainbow” during the Idol show wowed the judges and audiences. The original song “My Destiny” was also performed on the series, and was co-written by Harry Sommerdahl – who has worked with a number of new artist.

McPhee was the runner up to winner Taylor Hicks on the May 24th conclusion of the hit reality show – where a reported more than 63 million votes were cast to determine the winner.
