Harry Potter to open in Japan before USA

After hosting the premiere of Spider-Man 3, Tokyo will now see the premiere of ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ on June 28.

Reuters reports that Warner Bros. has confirmed the premiere’s Japanese location and adds that Harry himself, actor Daniel Radcliffe, will be in attendance.

Order of the Phoenix is then slated to screen in London on July 3 ahead of its stateside opening July 13.

Although the WB spokesperson reportedly said there was “no special reason” for selecting Tokyo, Reuters speculates that the Spidey 3 premiere “was seen as a shrewd push into the faster-growing international market that could help boost box-office revenues.”
