Sources have complained that Microsoft plans to cut the price of the Xbox 360 in the coming weeks.
Sources close to The Hollywood Reporter confirm that Microsoft will cut the price of the Xbox 360 by $50 to $299 in the coming weeks, before the E3 expo, which runs July 15-17 in Los Angeles.
Leaked ads for Kmart and Radio Shack have also confirmed the upcoming price drop.
This will place the most popular Xbox 360 model closer to the Wii's price point and $100 below the $400 PS3.
Microsoft has tons of great games coming out this holiday season, including the instant blockbuster Gears of War 2. This price drop is an early marketing strategy move by Microsoft to place them in a good position for what is sure to be the most competitive gaming season.
