While not arriving as swiftly as its North American counterpart, the Xbox Live Marketplace is gradually taking a more rounding shape in other regions where Xbox 360 owners are keen to get their paws on downloadable media.

UK-based subscribers to Microsoft’s Xbox Live service will be a tad happier with the Marketplace today following confirmation that major Hollywood movie studio Paramount Pictures is bringing its catalogue of content to British users.
The regional expansion of Paramount’s content agreement with Redmond-based Microsoft will enable UK users to download-to-rent a host of movies in either high definition (HD) or standard definition (SD) via the Live Marketplace.
Paramount’s movie content will debut tomorrow (Tues, Feb 19) and will see the likes of Michael Bay’s 2007 blockbuster "Transformers" heading a solid line-up of unfolding titles both old and new. HD download rentals will cost from 380 Microsoft Points (approx. 3.20GBP), while SD rentals will begin at 250 Microsoft Points (around 2GBP).“We are really happy to be able to welcome Paramount to Xbox LIVE Marketplace in UK,” trumpeted Robin Burrowes, Xbox Live Marketing Manager UK for Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices Division. “This announcement gives our Video Store customers in the UK an even greater choice of entertainment with a great level of HD movie quality, as always.”Paramount Pictures/DreamWorks movies coming to the Xbox Live Marketplace (UK) throughout the spring include:Transformers (available in SD and HD)
