Bungie Studios may well be synonymous with Microsoft’s phenomenally popular Halo series -- and very little else -- but the renowned Washington-based developer has revealed in its latest podcast that it fully intends to strike out in a new direction with its next creation.
Bungie promises its next creation will be a radical departure from the Halo series. Credit: Bungie.
Specifically, in joining content manager Frank O’Connor on the Bungie podcast, lead designer Christian Allen, writer Luke Smith, and director of franchise and community affairs Brian Jarrard allowed their collective chins to wag just a little regarding the studio’s post-Halo 3 venture.
Rumours surrounding Bungie’s new creation have been gradually mounting since the studio recently gained its independence from Microsoft Corp. -- although that independence hasn’t led to Bungie’s podders divulging related information lightly.
Moreover, on the subject of the new game, Jarrard initially refused to spotlight it in any way, saying only that: “It’s tough for us to really get into the stuff our listeners would love to hear about, which is what we’re currently working on.”
What he did eventually reveal is that Bungie’s next game most definitely won’t be a Halo 3 expansion (yaaay) or any form of related downloadable content, it will be “something completely different.”
“[It’s] far, far too early in its state to even say more than that at this point, but eventually I’m sure we’ll have a lot of cool things to start talking about,” added Jarrard. “I can just say that some of the stuff that I’ve seen is pretty cool.”
