This year’s round of gong-assisted congratulation will take place on Wednesday, January 30 at the Haymarket Hotel in London, and it will see various creative TIGA members rightly lauded for their achievements over the last twelve months.
Also, the 2008 awards will include two brand new categories, which are ‘Best Technology,’ and ‘Best Cross-Media.’ All of the TIGA award nominations have been selected by industry peers and will, according to the official press release, "represent the cream of European Development industry talent."
Some of the more prominent award categories include ‘Best PC/Console Game,’ which has Codemasters nominated for Colin McRae: DiRT, along with Team 17 nominated for Worms XBLA, and Kuju Entertainment/Doublesix in the running for Geometry Wars: Galaxies. The coveted award for ‘Best Developer’ is being contested by the likes of Blitz Games, Sumo Digital, and Denki.
"Despite increased competition from studios in tax-break countries we’re very proud of the outstanding work delivered by our members," enthused TIGA CEO Fred Hasson while commenting on the nominations. "These awards are won by and voted by our members and this kind of peer-to-peer recognition of excellence is the most sought after"
