Quick-fingered fans of SEGA’s critically acclaimed brawler Virtua Fighter 5 can look forward to beating a little more longevity out of their gamepads thanks to a downloadable content patch released today to the Xbox Live Marketplace. Credit: SEGA.Free to download, the patch will give players the ability to mix and match costume elements of specific characters; for example, using the pants from Costume A in Costume B. Also, online battle replays will now be open for saving, while gamer pictures will also be displayed during online battles. Other additions, fixes, and enhancements contained within the patch include:* One additional item per character (appear as "Downloaded item" in Costume settings/Item edit dialogue). * After winning the World Tournament Final, it’s now more likely that rivals you have not defeated will be playing in arcades* When someone joins an online match, you can now see their connection quality * Various fixes for minor bugs, including a texture bug * Easier sorting of rankings * Rematches in Online VS. Player Matches now possible even when the players haven’t added their opponent to their friend listThe Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5, which was initially released on the PlayStation 3, is a home console build of the latest arcade version of SEGA’s longstanding action title. Not only boasting a Metacritic review score average higher than its PlayStation 3 counterpart (88% vs. 85%), Virtua Fighter 5 on the Xbox 360 also includes "an improved Quest mode" that features more CPU rivals, items, and emblems for character customisation, but also added elements in DOJO mode including leader boards, training move settings, improved throw escape training, and the option to change an opponent’s position and recovery type.
