Condemned: Criminal Origins, while sounding as though it might offer little more than pseudo CSI-style techno filler jammed into a shoehorned narrative, exists as perhaps one of the most genuinely unsettling videogame experiences of the past few years - and its sequel Condemned 2: Bloodshot is now looming ominously on the horizon. Credit: Monolith.Much like the original 2005 game, which was an unremittingly tense first-person shooter, Bloodshot is being developed by Monolith (F.E.A.R.) and published by SEGA. However, this time around, both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 fans will get to face the possibility of losing control of major muscle groups while assuming the role of Serial Crimes Unit (SCU) investigator Ethan Thomas.Specifically, the traumatic events of Origins have left Thomas a broken man, a drunken burnout constantly battling with the inner demons haunting him following an investigation that left a trail of dead bodies in his wake while hunting down a twisted serial killer. Yet, despite his tormented and fractured existence, Thomas is once again called upon by SCU, this time to track down his missing partner… but it soon emerges that something more wholly sinister lies behind this latest investigation."The original, Condemned, was a game which truly shocked and scared its players with its subtle details, gripping story and eerie tension throughout," enthused Gary Knight, European Marketing Director at SEGA Europe.
