While the person above is just being silly with his sales figures. MS is doing well and so is the Wii. This is good newns for the gaming world. Sony will also do well and lets not forget that if there was not 3 good consoles we would not have Halo3, Mass affect, Bioshock and all the other good games. Sony would have released more and they would have been crap. But instead they decided to delay them to make them better. This is because they can just give us crap. Yes the 360 has had a very good year but that is just going to make sony try harder. If we just had one console why would they have to take risks and make really good games.
Lets just have lots of good games for all the consoles and have a really good time playing them..
PS just to let you know I have all three consoles. I will not say which is best becaues they all have good points and bad.
I think that MS seems to be throwing some sort of tantrum, have they included the 1 billion they had to spend on over heating 360's. Im on my 4th one. I also think their entrance into the second generation has been some what sloppy with 360's braking left and right due to a very rushed launch and rather stupidly over hyping the average shooter and incredibly short halo 3 when the likes of mario galaxy (now the voted the best video game of all time surpassing ocarina of time) barely gets any press despite actualy being a more than average game. And then they seem to release updated versions of the 360 quite often and if the 360 ultimate is real im afraid MS seem to be taking the mic. I honestly don't think they are meant for this business especially if they can't pick up melting 360's in a quality control test....
Microsoft claiming victory in the console war is just silly. Can you win the war without winning Japan? I don't think so. To me (I only own an xbox 360) the best thing about this console war is that there will be no winner. That fact alone will ensure that videogames will remain a competitive marketplace, which will ensure further innovation. Can you imagine a world where all videogames were made by EA? Additionally, I think it's great to have an american player in the console wars. Finally, until the xbox 360 people can come up with more immersive, kid-friendly games, they will never beat back the wii.
microsoft sold 10 millions xbox 360 the first year
microsoft sold 7 millions xbox 360 the second year
its clear the sales are going down
no wonder why microsoft is in a hurry to scream they won the next generation console war
now that nintendo has sold more wiis, microsoft cant say the xbox 360 has more sales than any next generation console, i wonder what they will scream the next year when the ps3 outsell the xbox 360
I actually don't believe that the ps3 will actually pass the 360 in sales.
The PS3 won't ever pass the Xbox360. I only own the Wii, so I'm not just an xbox360 fanboi here. PS3 is over-priced, and focused more on ripping off features of other consoles, more than actually developing the system itself.
They thought 'BluRay' was going to be their big selling point. Instead it pushed the cost of the console through the roof, and killed their sales. Even with PS3 taking a few hundred dollar loss on every console, they can hardly get rid of them. They'd have to be virtually giving them away at $100 before I would consider it. Playstation fan boys are really the only people buying them.
Nintendo took a new approach and focused on getting people besides the 'typical gamer' to play them. The Wii is finding its way into nursing homes for crying out loud! It's the only console that my wife will play with me, and her parents even enjoy playing it.
PS3, and Xbox360 will never do that.
If Nintendo can overcome their shortages, and start filling the overwhelming demand that there is for them, they will probably surpass the xbox360. Sony might as well take their ball and go home.
The way i see it Sony is looking like it might win a format war that will never make them any real money at the expense of losing a console war that surely would have been profitable.
The HD formats in my view will only ever be a stopgap, the market's not ready to leave DVD so soon and before they have any penetration digital downloads and possiblely a superior disc format will be on the horizon.
Those who believe that consumers are just waiting for a clear format winner before flocking to buy it may be disapointed, a lot of us who browse tech websites may be interested in all the latest technologies but i'm not convinced that joe public are ready to upgrade any time soon.
Any these are my thoughts, only time will tell.
Woah... Somehow I ended up with all seven of those games.
Except Guitar Hero II, as I was waiting for III on the Wii and could play copies owned by others, but not bad. All good games.
I also bought all -0- (zero) of the top games on the PS3.
Anyway, good for Microsoft! Personally I think Wii can't be stopped, but 360 has put in a great next best effort worthy of including them in the name Wii60.
But Sony, Sony, Sony...
I think these figures demonstrate its not always about marketshare. However with MS they arent exactly great on the profits side with xbox.
Personally i have spent far more time on gaming with the PS3 than Wii. Certainly i think ps3 will do well as premium console and media device. It has many key strong features over the competition. I find it interesting that like many here people write it off based on nonsense or false information.

Microsoftseem to forget that Nintendo and Sony both dwarf them in terms of total weekly console and software sales sales. For example last week Nintendo sold around 2m consoles worldwide and Sony shifted around 1.1m. Microsoft on the other hand sold 330k.
Where exactly does that fit in with their claims of dominance? Before you say that the PS2 and handhelds don't count, of course they do. They are all games consoles and its not Nintendo or Sonys fault that Microsoft has a less popular range then they do.
In worldwide console gaming the Xbox is nothing compared to Nintendo and Sony.
Heres a stat for you that memo seems to have missed. The 360 shipped 10.4m in its first year and 7.3m in its second which is a 30% drop on the previous year.
Here's another one. Last week the 360 was the worst selling games console worldwide sitting behind the DS, Wii, PSP, PS3 and PS2.
How about this one? Since launch the 360 has shifted an average of 145k units per week worldwide. On the other hand the PS3, which has still yet to release any of its big exclusives or its full online service, has shifted 181k units per week on average.
