No sooner had Codemasters’ Sensible World of Soccer taken to the Xbox Live Arcade pitch this Wednesday than the referee quickly abandoned the game after players were seen to be tumbling over huge gameplay divots sticking up all over the online field.

Sadly, expectant fans of timeless footballing classic Sensible World of Soccer are going to have to wait just a little longer before caressing the leather-clad pig’s bladder down the isometric pitch before stroking it lovingly beyond the outstretched arms of a diminutive sprite-based goalkeeper – because it has been scratched from the XBLA team sheet.
Dragged from the dressing room by the manager (in this case Microsoft), Sensible World of Soccer managed only a few hours on the Marketplace before chants regarding an annoying glitch began raining down from the stands. More pointedly, the bug in question saw players inadvertently signed out of Xbox Live and then unable to sign back in again without first returning to the Xbox 360 dashboard.
With angered supporters hurling abuse at the Codemasters and MajorNelson.com online dugouts, the decision was duly taken to abandon the match until problems on the pitch have been resolved.
No official replay date has been set by Microsoft, but we’re assured that everything is being done to get Sensible World of Soccer back on the Xbox Live Arcade fixture list just as soon as possible.
