Great news for fans of 2K Games’ underwater epic BioShock this week, with the announcement that downloadable content is now available via Xbox Live for the critically acclaimed and "genetically-modified" first-person shooter. 2K Games releases free downloadable content to Xbox Live for hit game BioShock. Credit: 2K.Features presently appearing on Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 exclusive include a selection of new Plasmid upgrades and Tonic abilities, along with new Achievements and fresh interface enhancements. The Xbox Live download, which is completely free, will also arrive as part of a special patch for those players enjoying the devastated city of Rapture on the PC format."As one of the highest rated games of the year, we wanted to continue to connect with the fans that made BioShock such an overwhelming retail and critically-acclaimed hit," trumpeted Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K Games. "We are excited to offer new downloadable content that will extend and enhance the replay value of this title."That content, in more detail, will see clammy-fingered gamers scooping the following:Plasmids and Tonics:* Sonic Boom: Hurls creatures and objects back with a blast of force * EVE saver: Enables Plasmids to be used while requiring less EVE * Vending Expert: Reduces prices in Rapture’s vending machines * Machine Buster: Increases the amount of damage players inflict on security cameras, bots and turretsAchievements (Xbox 360 only):Xbox 360 players can gain an extra 100 Gamer Points for "Brass Balls," by beating BioShock on its "hard" difficulty setting without dyingInterface Features:Following requests gathered through the online Cult of Rapture Web site, fans also now have access to a new widescreen option, which creates a wider horizontal field of vision. Other additional enhancements have also been incorporated into the game to increase BioShock’s already monumental draw. Largely considered to be a strong candidate for 2007’s illustrious Game of the Year award, BioShock presently boasts a Metacritic.com aggregate ranking of 96% spread across 75 different critical review assessments.
