Get ready to sing and dance with Electronic Arts' Boogie, a new game looking to take the karaoke crown. You'll start off by choosing a character which you can customize with new clothes and accessories. Afterwards, you'll play through a simple tutorial that teaches you all the basics.

Get ready to sing and dance with Electronic Arts' Boogie, a new game looking to take the karaoke crown.Your character's dance moves are determined by the direction and speed in which you move your Wiimote. Good dancing earns Boogie Power, which can be used to perform dance combos. Unfortunately, the dancing aspect of the game becomes repetitive and feels unfinished. It's as though the developers threw in the whole dancing concept only to differentiate themselves from the other karaoke games on the market.

As you'll soon discover, singing is the star in Boogie. Take to the stage -- aka your living room – with the included USB microphone, which plugs into the back of your Nintendo Wii. Simply follow the scrolling bar and changing text color. The word you're supposed to be singing will glow green. Three difficulty levels assure everyone can enjoy Boogie.

Game modes include Story, Karaoke, Dancing, and Party; Boogie's multiplayer option. Menu options include Video Maker, which allows you to create your own music videos from your performance, complete with cuts and effects; Shop, the in-game store where you can buy new outfits, songs and stages using points earned; and Practice, where you can perfect your performance.

But what about the songs? Fear not, aspiring superstars! Boogie includes 38 songs, ranging from The Jackson 5's "ABC" to Britney Spears' "Oops! I did it again". There's something for everyone.Visually, Boogie has a unique, cartoon-like style reminiscent of a DreamWorks Animation character. The visual style adequately matches the game's vibe. It's a simple, fun game that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Overall, Boogie is recommended if you're a fan of karaoke and are going to have people over. If you're looking for a new game to play by yourself, Boogie is not for you. Boogie shines when played with a group of people. If you can't afford a karaoke machine, Boogie does the job.
