Using the Nintendo Wii as a ‘proper’ exercise outlet might be stretching the little machine’s abilities beyond the realms of belief, but those European Wii fans looking forward to acting like complete maroons while balancing precariously on a piece of raised, pressure-sensitive plastic should now begin limbering up for the confirmed arrival of Wii Fit.

Specifically, Nintendo has today announced that Wii Fit will be raising heart rates across Europe as of April 25. Since its initial launch in Japan back on December 01 last year, Wii Fit has sold more than 1.4 million units, making it one of the fastest selling Wii titles to be released in the region.
Designed to encourage the whole family to take an active interest in fitness via fun and entertaining interaction, Wii Fit and its bundled Wii Balance Board enable users to participate in a wealth of innovative and interactive fitness activities without ever having to leave the comfort of their own homes.
Wii Fit offers up four separate training categories: Aerobic Exercises, Muscle Workouts, Yoga, and Balance Games, all of which have been developed to improve bodily balance, fat burning, toning, aerobic endurance and muscle conditioning.
In turn, those categories deliver more than 40 different interactive activities including Hula Hoop, Ski Jump, Press-up Challenge, Rhythm Boxing, Rowing Squat, Lunge, classic Yoga poses, and much more -- a little something for everyone, if they can pry their lazy behinds from the crumb-encrusted couch of course.
And, what’s more, Wii Fit also offers up virtual tutorials and encouragement in the form of its very own on-screen fitness trailer, who (while bound to sound outrageously patronising) will adjust his/her instructions depending on how users are progressing in terms of performance -- which no-doubt means plenty of vehement chastising for M&C Gaming.
We’re really excited by the arrival of Wii Fit. You can tell, right?
The only positive we can discern from the April 25 release of Wii Fit is that Europe will be getting it three weeks before the North Americans, which is surely a mistake on Nintendo's part given the obesity levels over there.
