When it comes to videogame arguments between roommates, it would appear that simply throwing down the controller and stomping off to your bedroom for a good long sulk is no longer the fashionable thing to do – especially when there’s a samurai sword lying about the place.

According to Internet reports, two men in Fresno, California, were this week engaged in just such an animated dispute over an unnamed videogame when one of them opted to forego sulking to instead pursue his roommate with a three-foot-long samurai blade.
Clearly it was a serious argument, though there’s presently no confirmation concerning rumours it was about videogame violence having a negative effect on imbalanced sociopaths-in-waiting.
Fresno police have since revealed that 22-year-old Christopher Torrez, who was likely willing to concede the argument at the moment a sharp-edged sword was brought forward as a tool of discussion, received wounds to his left leg and also the fingers on his right hand.
His attacker, 31-year-old Jim Sanchez was subsequently booked by the police at the Fresno County Jail on ‘suspicion’ of felony mayhem and assault with a deadly weapon.
Reports suggest that the vicious attack took place as Torrez was attempting to leave the residence during the videogame argument – at which point Sanchez likely decided to prevent his roommate from attaining the ‘Twist Door Knob’ Achievement by relieving him of unnecessary fingers.
The samurai sword used in the attack has been confiscated by Fresno police as evidence.
There has been no word on whether the two men will continue to live together.
This story comes hot on the heels of authorities in the UK looking to ban the sale of cheap replica samurai swords, which are becoming a popular and easily attainable weapon of choice for criminals.
