Even though Wii has proved itself a worthy adversary to its next-gen competitors Microsoft and Sony, there’s been little news regarding some of the more anticiapted first-party games that were tannounced last year for summer 07 release.
Reggie Fils-Aime confirms Metroid Prime 3: Corruption won't be available until end of 2007 at the earliest.
When Nintendo's most recent slate of releases did not include Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, even though Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime gave a “read my lips” promise that it would be coming out "early in 2007," we feared the worst.
Now, our fears have been confirmed - Newsweek correspondent N’Gai Croal got a chance to catch up with Fils-Aime last month at GDC 2007, and asked him the million dollar Metroid question: Where is it?
"Metroid is not going to ship by June," said Fils-Aime. "And the fact with Metroid is we want to make sure that that game is perfect."
Fils-Aime sited Metroid Prime 2: Echoes’ (released on the GameCube in 2004) lackluster performance as one of the reasons Ninty wants to get Metroid 3 just right.
"We want the sell-through as well as the critical acclaim for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption to be the best in the series, and that's a lofty bar," Fils-Aime explained. "To do that is taking a little bit more time than we had anticipated. But it's coming. And it will be great."
