The Walking Dead (also known as The Walking Dead: The Game and The Walking Dead: Season One) is a point-and-click adventure game set in the world of Robert Kirkman’s best-selling comic book series.
Throughout the game’s five chapters you’ll experience zombie-infested Georgia, USA through the eyes of Lee Everett, a convicted criminal who escapes when the patrol car he’s being transported in is involved in an accident. And so begins Lee’s journey as he struggles to survive and make sense of all the chaos.
Soon after, Lee meets 8-year-old Clementine who was left to fend for herself and somehow managed to survive in a tree house. A bond between them quickly forms, laying the foundation on which the game is built.
Each chapter takes approximately two hours to complete and feels similar to watching the Walking Dead television series, with writing that’s just as good, if not better.
The game’s action scenes are also on par with the series. Both the game and TV show complement each other perfectly and fans of one will like the other.
As the game progresses, you’ll meet various survivors who will join your party. Some are helpful, while others will become a hindrance to your survival.
One thing to remember is this: No one is safe. The streets are filled with Walkers. It’s not a question of whether the people in your party will die, it’s a question of when.
Throughout the game you’ll have to make difficult choices that affect how the story plays out. Imagine a video game version of a Choose Your Own Adventure book. Many of these decisions lead to heart-breaking outcomes.
Lee’s choices affect the lives of those around him and carry with them an incredible weight of responsibility. Yet somehow, Lee manages to power through. Does he do it for Clementine? For himself?
What begins as an optimistic attempt at survival quickly deteriorates into a devastating examination of human grief.
As the chapters proceed, we get to accompany a man on his quest for redemption — a journey of fulfillment powered by a desire to do the right thing, to somehow leave even the slightest indentation in another person’s heart, and thus live on forever.
The Walking Dead game is available now for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, PC, Mac, Kindle Fire, Android and iOS devices.
