Sony announced today the North American release of MotorStorm Arctic Edge, the first title of the MotorStorm franchise available exclusively for PSP.
Developed by Bigbig Studios, the development team behind Pursuit Force, MotorStorm Arctic Edge stays true to series with hostile Artificial Intelligence, multi-route tracks, and combat-style racing. The game introduces 12 unique and reversible racing tracks, two additional vehicle classes, multiplayer racing, and an Alaskan environment full of obstacles and rugged terrain.
The Alaskan landscape features narrow mountain passes, giant ice caves, and slippery ice bridges, sudden avalanches triggered by vehicle horns, collapsing ice bridges, bobsleigh corners, and three different racing altitudes.
Along with six vehicle classes from the original MotorStorm, two new snow-specific classes are introduced - the Snowcat and Snow Machine. Players can personalize each vehicle with a selection of wheels, exhaust, spoilers and sponsorship stickers. Also, to make things more exciting, the competition analyzes the race and surroundings and reacts to situations in real time, locating the best routes and changing the level of aggression based on cumulative player actions.
In multiplayer, MotorStorm Arctic Edge allows up to eight players to compete against each other wirelessly via Ad-Hoc Mode. Alternatively, players can compete via online multiplayer using Infrastructure mode.
Lastly, MotorStorm Arctic Edge features 20 licensed tracks from a variety of artists, while also allowing players who prefers custom tunes to play music from the memory stick.
