Konami’s 2008 entrant to its hugely popular Pro Evolution Soccer franchise may have failed to emulate the overwhelming success of its predecessors – not least because of a host of gameplay glitches – but Japanese developer Konami isn’t about to give up on its long-running sporting heavyweight.

Moreover, Konami Digital Entertainment has today released yet another update patch for Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 – this time specifically for the PlayStation 3 platform.

According to Konami, the downloadable patch "will solve compatibility issues" gamers have experienced when taking to the digital pitch on a standard-definition television set.

"The free download fixes the slight stuttering effect that occurs when the game is played on a non-HD source, and will be downloaded automatically when the game is [next] played online."

This latest patch follows on the heels of a fix released at the tail end of 2007 that addressed problems with frame rate processing, slowdown, and online lag apparent on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game.

Konami has stressed that it will continue to investigate possible ways to extend player enjoyment when it comes to PES 2008, and will maintain its drive to create ongoing improvements for the game.
