God of War III utilizes a new game engine built from the ground up delivering quadruple the texture resolutions of God of War II on the PS2, along with fluid, life-like characters, as well as dynamic lighting effects, and a robust weapon system. Thousands of dynamic lights and textures bring to life the game's realism, heightening the levels of brutality and gore.
Set in the realm of brutal Greek mythology, God of War III picks up where the franchise left off allowing players to take on the role of Kratos as he scales through the heights of Mt. Olympus and the depths of Hades to seek revenge on the gods. Armed with double-chained blades, and an array of new weapons and magic, Kratos must take on mythology's darkest creatures while solving puzzles throughout his quest to destroy Olympus.
