New creepy Tech Demo uncovered for Eden Games' Alone in the Dark. Credit: Atari.With a great many games trading on little more than straight-forward action rather than exploring the depths of atmosphere and suspense, the likes of Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 and SEGA’s Condemned 2: Bloodshot look as though investing in rubber underwear is something that gamers should perhaps consider. And, if the first glimpses of Alone in the Dark are anything to go by, then that investment will likely be money well spent.In development under the watchful gaze of Eden Games (Test Drive Unlimited), the new next-gen Alone in the Dark will arrive on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as an eerie first and third-person adventure that closely resembles the shadowy ‘next step could be your last’ gameplay also on offer in Condemned 2: Bloodshot.The following Tech Demo (part 1) ably showcases exactly the kind of unsettling gameplay Eden Games is pushing with Alone in the Dark, while it also intriguingly highlights the variety of situational approaches players can adopt in order to progress through the cloying darkness.Creepy but compelling. The perfect blend.
