Japanese gamers who’ve not yet sampled the considerable delights of Resistance: Fall of Man, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and others, will soon be able to pick up a range of reduced software as Sony prepares to launch its debut range of Platinum titles for the PlayStation 3 platform.

According to a related IGN report, a Japanese online retailer has posted a games line-up for the initial Platinum rollout, although it is listed under the somewhat unusual banner of ‘PlayStation 3 the Best’ - which we take as a literal translation of ‘Best of PlayStation 3.’
The first five games set to be included in the opening batch of value PlayStation 3 releases are Insomniac Games’ stunning sci-fi FPS Resistance: Fall of Man , Tecmo’s blood-spattered Ninja Gaiden Sigma , Ridge Racer 7, FolkSoul, and Gundam: Target in Sight.
The five debut titles are scheduled to arrive in the region on March 19 for a retail price of 3,800 Yen each, which equates to around $36 USD or 24 Euros.
Gamers in Europe can also expect the arrival of a range of budget ‘greatest hits’ PS3 titles in the near future. Specifically, a Sony spokesperson has commented to GamesIndustry.biz that something similar to the upcoming Japanese range will likely arrive at some point.
“We have introduced a Platinum range of best-selling titles for all of our platforms to date, and it is likely that we will do so in the future for PS3,” commented the spokesperson, before outlining that “no decisions have yet been made on timing or line-up.”
