Beautiful new screenshots released for Tomb Raider: Underworld

Credit: Eidos.However, thanks to the sterling efforts of new developer Crystal Dynamics (which replaced long-serving Core Design) an ailing Lara Croft was yanked from the clutches of oblivion and thrust, reinvigorated, back into the gaming limelight thanks to Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: Anniversary. How we welcomed her back.Now, keen to swiftly build on those solid gaming foundations, Crystal Dynamics is busy working on the eighth (yes ‘eighth’) entrant to the Tomb Raider series.

Officially christened as Tomb Raider: Underworld, Lara’s newest adventure will she everyone’s favourite piece of upper-crust English crumpet returning to acrobatically tackle all-new puzzles and dangerous environments while engaging in plenty of fresh gunplay. Oh, and apparently they’ll be some exploration through the underworld mythologies of various ancient cultures thrown into the mix too.Speaking with Game Informer magazine, Crystal Dynamics’ creative director Eric Lindstrom revealed that gameplay elements such as climbing, shooting, and puzzle solving will not always be singular elements in Underworld, but rather they will overlap one another in order to push the boundaries of what Lara can do.Fans can also look forward to new combat options and an upgraded palette of character animations, which the developers have expanded to reflect Lara’s more authentic real-world abilities. The grapple feature will also return along with added enhancements designed to allow Lara to attach onto any in-world object and apply forced manipulation if necessary. Furthermore, Olympic gymnast Heidi Moneymaker (what a name!) is providing all the motion capture for Lara, while actress Keeley Hawes will be once again stepping behind the microphone to voice the artefact-loving heroine.So, there you have it – the makings of another cracking Tomb Raider adventure, which will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC, PS2 and DS. Heidi Moneymaker is an amazing gymnast but she's not an 'Olympic' gymnast. She competed for UCLA and has won a number of NCAA championships. Nothing to sneeze at but in the name of accuracy, thought you ought to know.
Oh, and so glad they've go Keeley Hawes back. A real actress has made such a difference in the voicing of this game.

According to her bio, Heidi Moneymaker was a member of the Junior Olympic National team. The author has clearly linked to that bio page.

I can't wait to this game comes out it's gonna be the best. if you guys plan on making tomb raider 9 could you bring Larson and Pierre back they were cool.
