When it comes to fully enjoying the videogame experience in the comfort of your own home, the current trend centers on bigger is better: Bigger explosions, bigger sound, bigger impact, bigger performance, bigger power… and much bigger TVs to play host to all of the former gaming attributes.
But what if, when it comes to sprawling LCD and Plasma screens that take up half the lounge, televisions are not the way to go for complete gaming immersion?
Meet the iWear AV920-C, the latest innovation offered up by the creative boffins at Vuzix Corporation, which specializes in entertainment-based Video Eyewear. Built on the back of the existing AV920, the new AV920-C offers up the equivalent of a 62-inch screen and twin 640x480 high-resolution LCD displays while also factoring in compatibility with videogame consoles.
Vuzix is also keen to stress that a special zoom feature makes the iWear AV920-C the perfect piece of visual kit for usually cramped split-screen multiplayer sessions.

"The AV920-C adds a new dimension to multiplayer games," explains Vuzix CEO Paul Travers. "Instead of viewing all four players on the one screen, the AV920-C allows users to select their half or quadrant of the display screen and view it blown [up] on their own personal 62-inch screen."
Further to that, Travers adds that users can "daisy chain" AV920-Cs together so that up to four players can get their game on without suffering any on-screen distractions or worrying that opponents can view their screens. "This will change how local or inhome multiplayer games are played," he enthused.
If the iWear AV920-C is piquing your interest, then it is compatible with the likes of Microsoft’s Xbox 360, Sony’s PlayStation 3, and the Nintendo Wii.
Other features connected to the iWear AV920 include flicker-free 3D video support, 32-degree field of view, 24-bit true color (16 million colors), 60HZ progressive scan, an AccuTilt viewer with 15 degrees of angle, and removable integrated speakers.
Also, existing owners of the original AV920 can get in on the gaming act thanks to Vuzix having crafted a special AV920 Console Kit, which includes all the necessary hardware and firmware to upgrade the iWear to be game-ready.
The iWear AV920-C presently retails for $399,95 USD.
