Well, this comes at a loss for words. When I read the title outside the news stand, I thought it was referring to 'Officially Announces: MGS4 on Xbox!!' Well, I was dead wrong... Thank God!
Fanboys, let's be reasonable here. Money was never the issue. Sony and Konami share a deal and that deal is to release a game that finishes off Solid Snake's story on the Playstation 3, concluding all that happened in MGS1, which took place on The Playstation! This business is 'loyalty to the end', to put it. And I bet not one 'fanboy' knows what I'm talking about when I say that phrase, because they have absolutely no idea what it is. All they want is a port of the game, so that 360 sales go up, and PS3 sales go down. They don't care where the adventure of Solid Snake (Old Snake) leads us to, or where 10 years of story concludes, because these fanboys haven't played a single Metal Gear in their whole life. And if they have, they don't remember it. All they know is that a single game like MGS4 has stirred up the audience with its dashing gameplay, single motivating storyline, and 'years in the work' fine tuning and tweaking. Now, they see it's on the Playstation 3. What do we do?! Rant. PS3 can't have a 3rd party exclusive, but Bioshock and Mass Effect on the Xbox3shitty can?! Yeah, it's about time this rumor got cleared up. I was sick and tired of reading about it. Thank you very much, Konami.
Are you guys kidding me? this is marketing at it's best! Have you ever thought that the rumors of Metal Gear Solid coming to the Xbox 360 and the fact that Konami announced 'For the record, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and there are no plans to develop an Xbox 360 version of the game' can BOTH be true!?!?!?!
This has happened so many times before with other 'exclusive' titles. Mark my words...this is what's going to happen:
1) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots comes out for Playstation 3
2) 3 Months later it is announced that Metal Gear Solid will be coming out for Xbox 360 as well, but it's a different game...called Metal Gear Solid: The Return of the Snake' or some thing like that (I just made up that name)
This way they stay true to Sony by offering the GAME as an exclusive, but still milk the install base of the Xbox360 by offering the franchise to Xbox. There is no way Konami will not tap into Microsoft's customer base, there is just way too much money there. Loyalty only gets you so far...this is big business, with big money behind it. They need to maximize their profits after all they have invested in R&D. Trust me, you will be seeing this game on Xbox.
Man, why dont these 360 fanboys give up? They are not getting MGS4, sorry 360 fanboys you are not gonna get this game, how about u babys stop complaining and get back to playing your Gaylo 3.
Come on guys let's be civil about this! Lets put all this 'fanboy' stuff to bed. How many times do Microsoft fans start blowing their trumpets when a hot title gets the exclusive on their side? Alot right? So let Sony fans and MGS fans have a moment for a change okay? I personally feel good about the saga ending on the PS3 because it just feels right and it doesn't make me want to scream and shout about how much the 360 sucks or how much ill will I feel towards any 360 owner. It's all good in the end and these games are top notch no matter what side your'e on. The days of sophomoric competitiveness are over and should have ended with the mid 90's! Konami is obviously making this announcement because XboxFamily wrote an article a couple days ago which CONFIRMED that Metal Gear Solid 4 had been in Development for the Xbox 360 since January of 2007, and would launch shortly after the Playstation 3 version, with additional features not found in the Playstation 3 version.

Even G4 Television and Gametrailers have SPECIFICALLY said that it is not a matter of 'IF' Metal Gear Solid 4 is released for the Xbox 360...it is just a question of 'WHEN,' it is released for the Xbox 360, and what additional features it will have on the Xbox 360.
Does it really matter? All you ps3 fanboys need to stop along with all of you 360 fanboys. The fact of the matter is if a company needs to recoup the losses of making a game as big as Metal Gear Solid 4 then they need to sell as many copies as they can. Period. If Konami wants to make any money on this game they will do WHATEVER it takes to make said money. If that means a port so be it. Oh and for the person who said the negative comment about Wii owners---Go to hell, I am 30 years old and I love my Wii. True it may not be as graphically capable as the other two systems but it still provides Me and the other 14 million owners a fun experience which is all that matters when all is said and done. Can u say that about the 6-8 million ps3 owners out there?
Frankly, I don't really see the connection between DMC and MGS4 in the previous post, but the very first one made a lot of sense. 'About time,' indeed.
I admit the 360 and PS3 both have good games. If I had that much money, I'd buy and play them all, but to be humble about it, my pockets ain't that deep.
If a much-hyped game is not coming to a certain system, all the insistences and rumor-mongering by pig-headed system loyalists will not change that. You're simply wasting time and energy into all those keystrokes trying to make your point on such an issue. Just let go. It is sad to hear that the phrase 'reality bites' barely works (or in the case of some die-hards, doesn't work) on them.

the fact is the xbox has fewer exclusive games than the PS3. the PS3 bashers should do some research and attack the consoles real flaws, real flaws that arent present in the xbox of cource.

This is like the tenth time they have said this, i say we stop calling this a rumor and start calling it wishful thinking.
But lets not forget the xbox2 reliable source for this wishful thinking. A guy who knows a guy, who has a friend, that knows a person, whos brothers uncle's friend knows another person, that knows this one dude... i dont have time to finish this... there are another 100 people, but it ends off with this one guy who says its coming to the xbox2, with better graphics, more levels, more guns, more bosses, with the full version of MGO, and an alround longer and better storyline, on a 9 gigabyte disc. (The real MGS4, you know, the one for the PS3, is on a dual layer Blu-ray disc, a 50 gigabyte disc.) So lets forget about the 10 or more times Hideo Kojima and Konami have said that its a PS3 exclusive, they know nothing, nah they have know idea whats going on with there own game, that reliable source (see above) knows what whats really going on. MGS4 on xbox2 is wishful thinking, no means no!

oh and the person who says we spent 600 dollars on a games system that would probably come out less than all the times that you will have to get the 360 fixed and replaced, about once a month i would say.
its kind of like when ps3 fans say gears is coming to ps3. Maybe it will or maybe it wont. Bottom line is if you really want to play a game on a certain system then you by that system. If the game does come out 'IF' then you might be waiting a long time if ever
Incredible. This article has become a battle between the fanboys. There are a few who gave their valid points but there are others who simply attacked the opposite system. Can either of you actually give a wise opinion without saying ps3 sucks or 360 sucks? None of this system sucks. Each of them have their own unique features that draw in different types of gamers. This is like a battle between religion and science. This has to stop.
360 gamers. Would you really like ps3 fanboys telling halo 3 is coming for Ps3? No that is impossible! Halo has been all since the first on xbox. They are loyal to the xbox 360? No. Bungie split from microsoft and said that in the future they could consider doing videogames for other consoles. The truth is that the future is uncertain. Who knows maybe the next bungie game will be both on ps3 and 360. Maybe Marathon something. Xbox 360 is already getting devil may cry 4. Don't be so greedy people. And now ps3 gamers. Just because you are getting MGS4 doesn't mean you get the right to flame the xbox 360. The xbox 360 is a great console and so is the PS3. I have both and am very happy with them. The PS3 with its freedom, media features and free online play. The xbox 360 with great online and ingame features. Don't be so sure about keeping MGS4 as a exclusive. In the future that could change as it has for the metal gear soid 2 special edition released for the xbox. The future is uncertain. For now be glad that you will have MGS4 and MGS4 online.
My final point is that no matter how much you attack or defend something. Unpredictable things can happen. I will not waste my time waiting for a MGS4 game on 360. I have all 3 games on ps2 and thus I will finish my collection with MGS4 on my PS3. Meanwhile I'll play halo 3 on my 360 or replay my metal gear collection on my ps3. Oh and besides I heard Hideo Kojima is more interested on working on the wii next. Why do you think a certain character appeared on smash bros for wii? The future is uncertain...

uhhh yeah i own both a 360 & a ps3 and i have halo 3 & gears of war, thats all the 360 has...seriosly...the ps3 has resistence, ratchet & clank, free online, mgs4, a cell processer, blu ray, gta4, and no red ring of death, halo requires no skill and kill my friends often then get bored, gears of war is just resident evil 4 without the fun, and no wonder the xbox guys love it, they never got to play resident evil 4. the only reason xbox fans are angry, is cause they were impatient and got a weaker, cheaper system that has 2 games....Oh and the ps3 is quiter, and faster, its true!! i have oblivion on both and the xbox freezes and renders slow, sorry xbox fans its true, i wasnt a ps3 fan until i realized I never play the xbox...it sucks...
I'm a new PS3 owner and got my PS3 ONLY because I knew that MGS4 was going to come out for it with a possibility it would come out on 360 so I went for the sure thing. I've played all next gen systems and they all have their appeal wii (price/inovation) 360 (price (cheaper than ps3 anyway)/library) and PS3. I really do think the PS3 is the better system hardware wise but then again you pay more for it. Overall, 360 owners shouldn't be bummed out as Metal Gear Solid 4: Snake's Revenge (or some weird variation on a title like this) will be making it's way to the 360 about 12+ months after it's initial ps3 release. So please fanboys (or fanmen since everyone here is prob. older than 18) should stop spewing venom at each other and be happy over what you have, geez!
I'm sorry, but I cannot abide by that comment. I was looking forward to MGS4 coming out on Xbox360, not for some stupid fanboy reason, like you said, so that 360 sales could go up and such, but because I played, and still play the last 3 games on my PS2, and enjoy them very much, and I currently own a 360. I would like it to come out on 360 so I can play it and finish Snake's story.
Yeah, I wish the Ps3 could have Bioshock, and Mass Effect, and Halo as well. Maybe someday, it will, say if Sony becomes SO POWARFUL that it buys out microsoft. And no, I would not mind that happening.

All of the consoles are evenly balanced.
Now. I can hear the comebacks, and confusion whirring in your minds. So let me explain further. The 360 has a balanced set, fair price to the working class person, good games. The PS3 recently was given the same treatment at the expense of Back-Compatability, which doesn't matter since I have a Ps2 and am actually still content playing my games on it.
So, fanboys who want MGS4 on the 360, even though there aren't any plans right now for it to happen, there's a simple solution to your problem:
Put your animosity for the giant, black console with the silver lettering on it aside, and buy a PS3, damnit.

While I've been a fan of the MGS series all along - I'm not going to buy a PS3 just to play it. Chances are it'll come out on 360 soon enough, and everyone will be happy.

I'm going to still bank on a 360 release coming out eventually. So far every MGS title has been ported over to other consoles. Even the original 'Metal Gear' titles on the NES were ports. From a business perspective, it doesn't make sense to basically cut profits in half by remaining exclusive to one console. My guess is that, like the other 'ps2 exclusive' MGS games, as soon as sales and interest drop, you're gonna start reading headlines about MGS on the 360, and what extras they're adding in. Konami has never remained loyal to Sony, and I remember getting frustrated at that when I was a sony loyalist. You can't argue with history.

if there is sheds loads of money in it for these people they will release mgs4 on any platform. if anyone is interested in what i think. i think it will come to 360 when the price is right for everyone, because these next gen games cost so much to produce these days that they need a return on there product, and if ps3 isnt selling that great they will sell to 360 to sell more units and take more of our cash. also if i was a a game developer i would want all gamers to play my games, not a select few of sissy boys who think there consol is better tham everyone else.
For a long time now, i've always been wondering what new next gen system to get, i had a gamecube, ps2, and xbox, what happened was that i played my ps2 the most and gamecube the least and xbox in the middle. Finally came the time where its been one year the 360 beens out, and now the ps3 and wii was coming out. I still had the regular 3 systems and now was on the edge of which next gen system to get. So first i compared games i had for each system. 6 on gamcube, best ones were Metal Gear Solid Twin snake and super smash melee and resident evil series. Then 40 games on the ps2 my favorite ones were Metal Gear 2 & 3, the devil may cry series, Gta series, finaly fantasy and a couple of more. Then last came xbox, i had 25 games, my favorite was halo 1,2 and a couple of more shooters such as rainbow six and many more. Now the one thing i hated between having all three systems was which game to get for what system if it works on all three, heres a cheap example nba street. I was always confused which system to get the games on. Also i was the type that would hate to see one system not being used and just sitting there getting dusted. So i would try to play each system equally. I never had xbox live only ps2 online. Now came the time where i decide what next gen system to get. I looked at the wii, not my type, i love how you move your hands, but all the games that were coming out were mario and abunch of rated e games, plus i only had 6 games for the gamcube. So that tells you that i didn't like the nintendo company. Now came up to the ps3 and the xbox 360, even though i had more ps2 games then the xbox and played my ps2 more i was screwed because when the ps3 first came out it was too expensive and i couldn't afford it. I look at games as all of you people mentioned, MGS 4 for the ps4, Killzone 2, devil may cry, and final fanatasy. Then for the 360, gears of war, halo 3,now devil may cry 4 for it, resident evil 5 also, rainbow six vegas. Now from that i had to think what i can afford, also i play with my friends alot and alll actually all of them had 360's and had live, only 2 had ps3. So as i finally decided i did what i thought was right for me. I traded in my gamecube and all of its games, gave my ps2 to my cousins cuz they had nothing to play but traded in all of the ps2 games (plus those games were to bad to give to my little cousins anyway) and my xbox and all of its games. Came up with 500 stored credit at gamestop. Went for the xbox 360 and got gears of war for my first game. Now you wonder why pick the xbox, you loved the ps2 and had more games for it, well its true i am more of a sony fan then the microsoft, till i found out all of the games i was into was coming for the xbox 360, Devil May Cry 4,Resident evil 5, GTA IV, Raunbow Six vegas and vegas 2, splinter cell and many more. I looked back at the ps3 and see what i was missing, just finaly fantasy and metal gear 4. I said to myself i can live without final fantasy, but metal gear, man that was a amazing series to play with and by far i think its the best. The mgs games were always and still is to this day my favorite game ever. Now look i am not here to talk crap at all about any of these companies, Microsoft, Sony, and Nintnedo. I just went for what my liking were and it all worked on the 360, besides that like i said i play with my friends alot on live, and its fun. Now the problem is and i am asking all you fanboys, as also am i 2, what should i do, the whole point of next gen for me was to pick only one system out of all three and stick to it. Because now everything is expensive and i can't keep up with two systems and still buy games, plus now it takes that pressure on my on which game to get for which system such as cod4 and many more. I picked the xbox 360 and am very very happy with it, the games are fun, i get to play with all of my friends, and it provides me with all the hardcore m rated shooters and everything i am into. Now you may look at me and say well you should of just saved your 500 store credit and went for the ps3 if you wanted MGS4 that bad, well the point is, is that i didn't and i dont regret not doing so cuz i am fully satisfied with the 360. Now look my main point here is what should i do, should i wait one year for the MGS 4 to come on to 360 or just save up money for the ps3 even though the only game i will play is MGS 4 and nothing else, maybe just Final Fanatasy and thats it. My only regret will be buying a ps3 just for 2 games that i like, i'm not saying that its only good for 2 games but for what i'm into it is. Now look im not rich or anything, im in the middle class and am asking you guys for advice, this whole story i mentioned is for you guys to understand i am a normal gamer and don't go buy different systems and give crap to others, cuz i thinks it worthless and its childish. All i'm asking is what should i do, wait one year or go for it, even though i don't have the money now but i can save, it will take time. As a thirty year old gamer, and a video game store manager, I have been playing video games since the days of the Commadore64 and the Intellivision. I've seen consoles and franchises come and go, and even remember the wars between SNES fanboys and Genesis fanboys...Saturn and Playstation for that matter..or Dreamcast and PS2 if you like.
The war between exclusivity, and the rumors, and PR announcements...I've seen it all before, and have a keen observation to point out.
Konami is an old fashion Japanese company. Now I know here in America loyalty, and honor might not mean much in a business sense, after all 'hand-shake' deals are really a thing of the past here. But in Japan, a deal of loyalty, and tradition, of honor (and most importantly stock options) hold more weight that units sold.
Kojima-san was quoted as saying (in the first cover story of MGS4 in Game Informer), 'I would like to work with the 360, but if I did, it wouldn't be a Metal Gear Solid game.' When asked about a possible port of the game to 360 he said this, 'the Playstation console defined Metal Gear Solid, and Metal Gear Solid helped define the Playstation. IN a way, the Playstation in responsible for the success of Metal Gear Solid.' And on their MGS4 website mission statement it says, 'MGS4 is the battle ground for the next-gen console war...wil Shinkawa, Murata, and Kojima (the directers)be able to breathe life into Sony's war machine the Playstation 3?'
Konami made a deal with Sony for the exclusivity of MGS4. Kojima is loyal to the Playstations brand name...and not too mention the fact that Sony owns stock in Konami, and Konami owns stock in Sony. JUust like Sony owns stock in SquareEnix, and SquareEnix owns stock in Sony...hence the Final Fantasy series, and Kingdom Hearts (the flagship titles for KH) are to remain Playstation exclusives indefinately, the Meat Gear Solid franchise will remain on Sony consoles. Yes MGS twinv snakes came out on GameCube...and it sold terribly. MGS2 Substance came out on XBOX..and again sold almost nothing. that's why you didn't see any other MGS games on any other consoles. MGS3 didn't come out on anything else, and it never will, because the contracts signed specifically state so.
Again,Japanese companies practice different business than American companies. Japan is an entirely different culture from here boys and girls, you can't possibly hope to understand it until you've lived there (like I have)...
And last but not least, let's look at the quote itself. In the past in a company wanted to remain secrative about a port onto a different system (like Devil May Cry 4) the company makes an announcment with the words 'As of this time...' somewhere in the announcment. 'As of this time game X is PS3 exclusive....' or ' As of this time we have no plans to make Game X of the 360...' Michael Shelling didn't say anything like that. Capcom did when talking about Resident Evil % and Devil MAy Cry 4, but only while Ken Kutaragi was head of Sony. After the announcment of these games going multi-platform he lost his job becaue he wouldn't play hard ball. After he left Sony started doing something they've NEVER done in the past...throwing down 'money hats', or large sums of money to game developers to make their game exclusive...av practice Microsoft is notorious for (which is an American practice in origin...hence why Japanese companies don't regularly if at all practice this).
And my final point, is that the rumors of MGS4 on 360 are always coming up around the time MGS4 is rumored to be either coming out, or a demo is coming out, or it's nearing completion..whenever an new news about MGS4 comes out, there's a rumor that's always reported first by a Microsoft loyal website or magazine. It's timed rumour mongering by Microsoft to try and discourage hype for a game that they are afraid of because they know it's going to be huge. Microsoft was reported to have attempted to 'persuade' konami with huge sums of money to wrench away exclusivity from Sony, but Konami's sticking to their guns, and allowing Kojima to have the final say with his IP. And Kojima says, 'No'...so Konami says, 'No'...and Son'ys contract in air tight either way because of mutual financial gain, as well as the previously stated Japanese loyalty.
So to conclude, MGS4 is not coming out for 360, not after it's PS3 release, not a year after, not ever. But watch, right when the demo comes out, or right before it's official release, or right when Kojima Productions comes out of it's self-induced silence...there will be another 'exclusive scoop' from an XBOX loyal site, or magazine that says MGS4 is coming out on 360, and Konami, and Kojima will have to say, yet again, 'Meatl Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a Playstation 3 exclusive title. There are no plans to make an XBOX360 version of this game.'

It's actually interesting to see people make such a huge deal over this. Alright, so I admit, I'm just as bummed out as the next guy that MGS 4 isn't coming to the 360, and I don't even own the console. But the funny thing is, there's way too much madness being spouted on both sides. 360 gamers are trying to reach for a resolution, while PS3 gamers are reveling on the only worthwhile exclusive they've gotten since launch.
So let me break it down for you; MGS is NOT exclusive to Sony. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 were MSX games, the first of which was ported to the NES. Metal Gear Solid was ported to the PC, and remade on the Gamecube as The Twin Snakes. Metal Gear Solid 2 was re-released as Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance on both, the PC and XBox. The point? People who have been touting 'ending' the series on the same console have no argument, seeing as the series never started on a Sony console, nor did it stay exclusive to it in the first place.
Now we've got this weird stuff about....what was it? 'Honoring' an agreement? Yeah, I think I'm going to have to side with the people here who have stated, numerous times I might add, that in a business, money comes first. It's the same reason Kojima didn't release Boktai 3 in the US, and it's the same reason why Boktai DS was renamed to Lunar Knights; because the series hadn't sold well in the first place. The poster above me made comments about 'honor' and contradicted himself when he said 'that's the reason why MGS3 wasn't released on anything aside from the PS2', and that was because of the fact that it may not have sold as well. Honor had nothing to do with this. You may have experience dealing with the Japanese casually, but business will always be business.
Finally, the PS gamers here seem to be enjoying taking stabs at the 360 gamers, with comments like 'the 360 has no exclusives'. That my friends, is a double edged blade. It's true, the 360 does have a lot of games that were eventually ported to the PC, or they may share some games with the PS3, but tell me, what exclusives does the PS3 have at the moment? I keep hearing about some generic FPS called Resistance, but that's really about it. It may recieve Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid, but three games won't keep the console from losing out to a lot more potential 360 exclusives, regardless of how they come from popular franchises. So in closing, this isn't a pissing contest about exclusives, this is about which console is more appealing, and which one has the games that need playing.
I'll give the PS gamers the satisfaction of saying, the PS2 won the previous generation's console race because it had all the games in it's pocket. It had binding contracts with most of the big third party companies, so there wasn't much competition between them and the other two consoles. But in the end, I could just as well say, that for every 100 games that were released on the PS2, about 70 of them were either crap, or were multiconsole. The XBox had a plethora of good, worthwhile games, and the Gamecube prided itself on a high rate of good games in comparisson to the very few bad ones that were released.
So let's face it guys, the 360 is this generation's PS2. There's no denying the PS3 is the more superior console, hardware wise, but the PS2 in comparisson to the XBox and Gamecube, was a much inferior one. This isn't about graphics, processors, or disc capacity, this is about business, money, and fanbase. Also, people need to stop BSing about the 360's repair costs amounting to more than the PS3 costs, because that problem had been rectified, three revisions ago. The 360 no longer overheats, there is no RRoD, nor does it crash or anything. Also, this argument about a 50Gb Blu Ray disc competing with a 9Gb DVD? Umm hello....previous installments of the series have been placed on more than one disc, so I don't really see that as being far fetched.
But in the end, I see no need for enmity between either group. Each console has it's ups and downs, but not a single one of you has the right to bash another's opinion just because it differs from your own. We can all get along well, enjoy what games we have on whatever consoles we own, and learn to communicate on equal terms with our fellow peers. Unless of course, you'd all like to go the way of PC gamers, who happen to be some of the saddest cases of elitist pricks I have ever seen.

^^^How many times do I have to correct people? MGS2: Substance is what was released on Xbox and PC, and the PS2 version was released later with an add-on cd, not MGS2: Sons of Liberty. MGS2 substance is non-canon, so it shouldn't give xbox 360 gamers hope in a release of a metal gear canon game.

Well Metal Gear Fans it seems we have a problem. I am a huge MGS fan and the fact of the matter is that for christmas I just happened to recieve a 360 and at the moment cant afford a PS3. It saddens me to know that MGS will not be coming out for the 360 and wish that in some way Sony, Hideo, and Microsoft could work things out for those unfourtunate 360 console owners.
You can keep dissing the 360 but it just so happens that it works fine although i am sad that i dont have a PS3 anyways we cant always get what we want.

the same has happened to me. i used be a playstation fan all the way and i probably would have bought a ps3. however now i own a 360 because it was cheaper and i wasnt gonna wait like 8 months for the ps3 to drop in price. during my time of owning a playstation i owned all of the MGS games and played them all 24/7 no matter how times i've completed them. but if times were different and the prices for both consoles (360 and ps3) i would buy a ps3. the reason i want MGS4 on 360 is that i dont waste like $600+ on a ps3 just to play metal gear. i reali do hate these fanboy remarks about the games available to a console. and who said that there will be like 15 DVD discs is bull becos kojima can put it onto 2 or 3 HD discs (as the 360 can play them but you need the disc port adn fine point to those who state this.) he'll end up doing it again for the ps3 anyway. plus if you MGS fans do ur homework MGS has come out for other consoles other than playstation 1,2 and 3, the first did start on playstation, fine but it was release again for the PC and again for Gamecube. MGS2 was released for ps2 , xbox and PC. however MGS3 was a stand alone console because the sales for other platforms were not good enough.

yes, there was, and it sold poorly, not to mention it wasn't all that great anyway. that's why 360 won't get mgs4. even if they did, it really would be horrible. the 360 disc only has 9 gb compared to the 50 gb that the game took up on a dual-layer blu-ray disc. not very much would fit. if you don't have a ps3, don't worry, they're still out there. if you don't have the money, like i was saying before, ebay is the answer to all of life's problems lol.

If it isn't in the company's budget to do so, I can understand. But Konami isn't going bankrupt anytime soon and Metal Gear Solid is a MAJOR gaming franchise. It can be done.
on the comment of The Philosiphers (if that is your real name) look i own a 360 i picked it over the ps3 for many reasons but one of the things that was makeing it hard for me to pick was because of MGS4...i was all about the ps2 over the xbox i loved the games on the ps2 wayyyyyy more the then xbox but now 360 has the quality games and it has a more organized online exp. (which lately i become to love) and even if MGS4 never gets to the 360 its not like the ps3 sales will surpass the 360, and for the simple fact name me 5 top sellers the are exclusive on the ps3..........anyone??? and also the 360 have gears of war eff gaylo 3 we have gears of efffing war (and in november gears of war 2) also i will play and beat MGS4 (no matter what even if i HAVE to get a gaystaion 3) i love the series and have bear each of them more then once cant wait till they seemingly end the series

Kojima is not worried about MGS4 going down hill, when MGS4(Single player version) was being tested by magazines and other companies, they all gave it 10/10 but only 1 magazine so far has publicly given a full reveiw so Kojima knows it's gonna be big so theres no worry of money there.
Kojima has made deals with sony that MGS4 will never be released on any other console. Kojima has told us that it's gonna be on PS3 only and Kojima is retiring after MGS4 release so I can guarantee that the company will want to start on a new game straight after like they have said.
It has nothing to do with money, all Kojima wants is to retire with honour so people will remember him by his games and his amazing skills in making games and he has said that so many times in different words.
Once Kojima retires, MGS4 by law cannot be released on any other console without Kojimas permission and Kojima feels strong about it being exclusive to PS3. Aswell as MGS4, Coded Arms:Assault which is made by Kojima Productions is to be exclusive to PS3 and they have said that there are no plans or intentions for the game to be releases on any other console, this is a clear sign that Kojima realy wants nothing to do with Microsoft.

You can clearly see which console has had a better success with games. All the releases game on the list have gotton mostly 8/10 or more. For the unreleased games, so far the other games in the series have been pretty big and the games production team have been happy with the game. Kojima even have another game exclusive to PS3 but I've allready spoken about that. And the new 20GB PS3 console is gonna be a bit cheaper then the 360 if not then the same price. So the ps3 will jump ahead of xbox.
O my god. Kojima said it's ps3 exclusive and that the XBox's bloody disc can't handle the game. THe xbox will need like 6 or 7 disc to fit MGS4 on it and plus the new 20GB PS3 will be cheaper or the same price as XBox 360. You XBox fans complain all the time. In over 50 blogs I have been to, Playstation fans don't complain because Xbox has that or it has this, we stick by the PS3 and at the end of the day we know that we have better games. Even if you 360 fan began to get good games, guess what, PS3 still has MGS4. If you begin to get alot and alot of good games, guess what, at the end of the day ps3 still has Metal Gear Solid 4 and we can play against each other on Metal Gear Online and say
'I wonder what people are playing on 360. Oh thats right we don't need to worry if they have better games , we have MGS4'
The main reason people got XBox was because Halo came very cheap with the console, I know because the Xbox sales became very low when Halo didn't come with the Xbox anymore.
I got my XBox 360 when it first came out. I got home, set it up and got to play about 40 minutes of it when it just froze for a while then the buttons on the console went red and just shut down. I tryed to restart it but it was completely stuffed. I sent it back to Microsoft to get it fixed, it took weeks to get it back but I got it back. I went on the internet to research and found that it happens to every 1/3 Xbox and that Microsoft doesn't even bother to fix the problem when they make new Xbox 360. The major problem is that the Xbox only had a 3 year warrantee and if it broke after that then you needed to buy a new one because there is no proof that the Console broke randomly or if I broke it. Then I find out that the 360 will most likly brake again after the warrantee ends and I know because it happened to my friends 360. last year after the warrantee ended earlier then what it was supposed to, the 360 broke, I rang Microsoft myself to find that they could do nothing about it. This pissed me off, My dad took it back to the store where I got it from and forced the manager to give back the money as we were ripped of from the day we got it.
I started to look at the PS3 and found that it might be more expensive but it has a device inside that can find out what stuffed up the system if it does brake. Also it has better games from what I read, has the top DVD player in the world today installed into it, Has free online play and is just fullstop better. I bought it on christmas and got 3 games with it and the games and remote controlle felt better then the 360. I got 4 more games on my birthday and am getting 6 more games by the end of this year.
I have to say that Xbox is a pretty big rip of while Sony is Quiet, smooth feeling and you feel like you are touching something that is out
of this world. It's a long story but I'm telling you what is happening to
many people out there who are getting ripped of.

My Xbox 360 stuffed up the second day I had it and Microsoft would not fix it even when I told them it had warrante, they still wouldn't touch it, that when my aunty went back and got the money back and EB Games gave the money back as soon as we told them what happened thank god. Got the money back and got the PS3 and it's the best, Now I can play MGS4 when it comes out nd the rest of you supporting that faulty machine can't.Another thing PS3 has a Dual Layer 50GB disc and Microsoft have a max of 40GB, that is no where near enough space to have MGS4 on it, even if they buff down the graphics, even then, that game still contains way to much. Kojima will basicly have to shorten the game by a huge amount to get it on Xbox. The other part, The second disc that comes with the game which is for the online gaming also use all the pace on the Dual Layer 50GB disc so alot of Maps, Weapons and features will have to be taken out. All Im sayng is that 10GB is a hell of alot so 40Gb's is not even close to enough a 50GB game.
My PS3 stuffed up the first day I got it, so I basicaly told sny it needs fixen and they couldn,t do it so I took it back to the store and got a 360.
Microsoft have set up so many sites saying that the PS3 stuffs up all the time etc. But there have been no reports that the PS3 has stuffed up, every shop that sells the PS3 have got no reports that the PS3 console has just stopped working. PS3 is a console that everyone should have.

first off its not about which system is better then the other, ps3 vs 360. nor is it about 'fanboys' of 360 complaining about it not coming to xbox. its about the upsome amount of MGS fans that didnt have the money to dish out for the ps3 so they got a 360. i admit i own a 360 and i am a diehard MG fan since the begining (MG nintendo era). but think about it for a sec am i going to dish out 4 to 500 bucks to get a ps3 then pay another 60 bucks to get one game?? sheesh thats almost half the rent that i pay.... thats money for food, beer, liquor, and a bunch of cheap b rate movies like 'Death Bed the bed that eats people.'
im sure sometime down the road 360s going to have some game that ps3 fan are going to complain that its not on the ps3. why??? because its cheaper to complain then it is to spend on a new system plus a game.

people sayig Konami would be mad not to use microsofts install base to make more profit i think are wrong, why?
1. Konami is a Japanese company with Kojima' team based in Japan etc, the install base for ps3 is much higher than 360 in japan and this will sell over there.
2.They made use of the Blu-Ray and extra capacity making it hard to make a port for 360 and they have already spent a huge amount of time and money on this game already.
3.as someone mentioned, its Kojimas last game and the series will finish on the PS3 where the franchise really stepped up its game and gained alot of its fans etc. on the playstation.
4.The metal gear 2 on xbox was nowhere near as popular as ps2.
5. The limited edition gun metal ps3, sony ericcson metal gear phones etc
6.This will sell a great amount of PS3 and there are some good games coming out and things look good for ps3, Ps3 is selling better than 360 everywhere apart from america, unless your a fan-boy then you'll have to get a PS3 for this game. Whos to say the ps3 install base will be as high as xbox when this comes out.
7. I personally think that Kojima has NOT done the thing that most devs are doing these days, and what really goes against the 'art of gaming' and that's puting money before quality, he has gone that one step further to acheive his goal and raised the bar for developers all around the world. Most Devs will sell-out for the money, most go cross platform simply to cash in, whereas if they took more time and developed it on Ps3 hardware the quality should be greater. This will be a masterpeice and we can all share in hideo's greatest sucess and fulfill snakes ultimate final mission.

Personally I'd like it to come to the 360, just like I hoped MGS3 Subsistence would come to the xbox like substance did. Why? at the time it was because I had an xbox, had sold my ps2 (which I got MGS2: Sons of Liberty for on day of release) and wanted to play an awesome game I would love. (I bought mgs2: substance for xbox and borrowed a friends ps2 and mgs3 which all got stolen, except a few xbox games, including mgs2 :D)
Why do I want mgs3 on the 360, then?
Because in the future if I had the money, a 360 and mgs4 would be cheaper than a ps3 and mgs4.
The fact is all I have is a xbox that is borrowed from a friend, not enough money to get a console soon and an urge to play mgs4 so bad, I'm asking everyone I know if they have a ps3 I can borrow/hire for a few days. If all fails I can fall back on spending the weekend at a friend who's getting it, but I'd really like to play it without feeling guilty for playing it when my friend wants to, and play it all by myself.

All of this 'fan boy' nonsense makes me laugh. What's with the console war and siding? Do you all not have enough money to buy both systems?
It's about the damn games and having fun. If you want to side with either multi-billion dollar, emotionless and greedy corporation and fight for them than that's your prerogative. Personally I'm sticking with a realistic perspective that it would be beneficial to more consumers if MGS4 was ported, but if Konami wishes to keep their word that's fine too.

I don't like exclusives at all. I hate that idea. It only gives more profit to Video Game Consoles and less fun to PC Gamers.
An example is GTA IV, It's a console exclusive for both XBox 360 and PS3. However, many people who don't own or can't rent a game console will be deprived from the game.
Another is Konami's own MGS3. It's a PS2 Exclusive. They didn't port it to XBox or PC. They had less sales than MGS2 but it remained (and abandoned) as an exclusive. Well screw them because it's a prequel! And prequels are usually bad and irrelevant.
Another one is this, MGS4. It will be a PS3 Exclusive and will deprive both PC and Xbox 360 owners from playing the game. Well Sony will earn more because die-hard fans will buy a PS3 even if they have already an XBox 360 or a juiced up PC. While those who can't afford buying another console will suffer because they can't play the game =( . Well good for Sony because they're going down the drain because they can't outsell the Wii or the XBox 360 and this game is gonna be their savior.
Screw console exclusives!!! Of course no one would even think in renting (or lending) their PS3 or XBox 360 because the world is selfish. So are Sony and Konami. Why won't they think about spreading their great game to more people rather forcing them to buy an expensive console just to play the game.
I hope that they should get rid of this 'console hype' and just get it to all platforms. The PC's more flexible than both the XBox 360 and the PS3 because the console's parts are not upgradable and once a component breaks, the whole console is useless (if it's not under warranty).
Actually kind of disappointed about this, was hoping that it would have been on the 360.
I've been a MGS fan for a while, but the cost of the PS3 and the poor titles they have seemed to have are keeping me away from it. I would really love to play this game one day and I might just do what Sony wants and go out a buy a PS3 so that I can play this game.

All you ps3 fanboys were convinced left 4 dead was coming for ps3 but how wrong were you ^_^ besides gears of war 2 and left 4 dead will make up for the 360 not having mgs4 and we get yet another set of online games that own the ps3.
As for some of the ps3 titles you mentioned haze is a pile of crap and potentially one of the worst over hyped games for the ps3, home is boring as hell, little big planet is no big deal for 360 owners to miss out on.
Remember when RE4 was a GC exclusive, and Capcom had no plans of a PS2 version? I do.
It would be pretty cool if MGS4 came out for the Xbox360, and it would be a real plus in Konami's wallet too, personally I think it would be cool to see the difference and inovations they put into the games for the different systems, I own all three systems so I think it would be cool.
Xbox 360 are thieves and that's why they suck. Now that Itagaki (of Ninja Gaiden fame) has left, let's see what this supid Xbox can do to stay afloat.
