Square Enix\'s acclaimed RPG gets a release date for Europe and PALs.
It's been available in the US and Japan for the past three months, selling over 4 million copies and garnering a slew of awards, and now Europe will have a chance to get in on the action. Square Enix Ltd. today announced the forthcoming Final Fantasy XII will be released on February 23rd in Europe and other countries that support the PAL television standard.
The latest title in one of Square Enix’s most beloved franchises will be released across all PAL territories exclusively on the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system.
“The PAL launch of Final Fantasy XII is our biggest release since Square Enix started self publishing across Europe last year,” commented John Yamamoto, President and CEO of Square Enix Ltd.
Since its debut in 1987, the Final Fantasy series has sold over 70 million units worldwide. The latest installment sets the player in the world of Ivalice, where magic is commonplace and airships fill the skies. Players take the role of a young orphan named Vaan with dreams of piloting an airship of his own. Together with Princess Ashe - the sole surviving heir to the Dalmascan throne, long thought dead - Vaan will embark on an incredible journey through Ivalice. The choices they make will determine the very fate of the world.
