Electronic Arts announced today the first details on one of the most anticipated games in their portfolio, The Sims 3.

Electronic Arts announced today the first details on one of the most anticipated games in their portfolio, The Sims 3.

Featuring a brand new engine that has been in development for nearly three years, The Sims 3 allows you to immerse your Sims in an open living neighborhood right outside their door. The initial feature-set unveiled includes the new seamless, open neighborhood, new Create-A-Sim, new realistic personalities and new unlimited customization. The Sims 3 will launch globally in 2009.

“In The Sims 3, Sims can go beyond the boundaries of their home lot, and immerse themselves in an open, living neighborhood, interacting with other Sims using our new deeper personality system,” said Rod Humble, Head of The Sims Studio. “It is this type of open-ended gameplay that inspires endless creative possibilities. In addition the new goals and rewards systems will give players of all kinds from core gamers to storytellers the ability to enjoy long-term gameplay.”

New Seamless, Open Neighbourhood—Explore the Neighbourhood Freely.
The new seamless neighborhood architecture allows your Sims to roam freely around the neighborhood and visit other Sims. Discovering other Sims homes and families, traveling around to new locations like City Hall or the local park will create a whole new way of life for your Sims. Storytelling options will multiply as your Sims stroll downtown, meeting other Sims.

New Create A Sim—Create Any Sim You Can Imagine.
In addition to the open, living neighborhood, the all-new Create-a-Sim interface will feature easy-to-use design tools that allow you to make truly detailed Sims that are more realistic than ever. Create-a-Sim gives you the freedom to customize just about any Sim you can imagine. In addition to determining your Sims body shape and size, you will also be able to fine-tune every feature on their faces, customize their hair style and select their skin tone.

New Realistic Personalities—Every Sim Is A Unique Person, With A Distinct Personality
With the proprietary Realistic Personality System in The Sims 3, you can attribute each character with five distinct personality traits, helping shape your Sims behavior and how they interact with others and their surroundings. In The Sims 3, Sims will go beyond the basic set of day-to-day needs to be distinct individuals with multifaceted personalities, who can focus both on short-term opportunities and long-term goals. More than 700 million combinations of Sims are possible.

New Unlimited Customization—Everyone Can Customize Everything.
New and accessible creativity tools in The Sims 3 make it simple for anyone to customize anything, anywhere. From floors to flowers, fashions to sofas, wallpaper to window shades and more, The Sims 3 gives you all the flexibility and options you need.

Sounds fun. There is no doubt this will sell millions in its first week of release.

I don't think you'll be able to transfer your Sims. It seems like Sims 3 engine is completely new, built from the ground up.

I remember when I saw MySims. What excited me the most was the ability to go throughout the entire neighborhood with your sim.
But MySims didn't turn out very well.

Nice to see they're putting that element into a true Sims game.

But please, no more expansions. Just put existing expansions built into the game! D:

Everything that's not a Sim looks good. My major issue is how grotesque the Sims in this game look from the screen shots here and on the official website. They look like they've been molded from clay. They aren't endearing at all unlike the Sims in Sims 2.

well i'm excited by this as well, open neighbourhood - smashing. better personalities - awesome. getting kidna tired of how pretty mucha ll my sims act pretty much the same way.

unlike others, i'm not too worried about not being able to transfer sims from sims2 to sims 3. i expect this won't be possible.

but someone above did mention the sims in these shots look as if though they were out of clay . and i'll have to agree. they kinda have the look of a putty-like nurb-based model.

ah well. i expect it will have better game play :3

cannot wait for it!

i doubt you'd be able to put sims 2 data onto sims 3. you couldnt do that from sism 1 to 2, so i doubt it.

and yeah, the characters do look a little weird, not at all like the old sims. even sims 1 characters look kinda similar to sims 2 . but not in sims 3.

defff gotta pre order it hey.

gonna be sweeeet. (Y)

oo yea if you do make it on gaming sytems can you add aging and babies cuz on all the other sim games for gaming systems you cant have babies or you cant age. that would be pretty cool. so basically what im asking for is for you to make sims 3 for gaming systems and if you do to make the gaming system version to be the same as the pc version. thanks for listening.
