SimCity Societies takes the beloved SimCity franchise in a new direction.
Fans around the world will be shocked and/or dissapointed to know that Maxis will not be developing the newly announced SimCity Societies.
While no reason was given, I think it is safe to assume that they're quite busy with the hightly-anticipated SPORE and probably another Sims game.
Taking over development duties will be Tilted Mill Entertainment, developers of Ceasar IV.
Many fans were also shocked to find out that SimCity Societies is departing from the traditional SimCity style. Screenshots from Games for Windows magazine depicted a colourful 3D world with a theme park.
Chris Beatrice, president and director of development stated: “I do not want to mislead anyone: This SimCity is not a realistic urban simulation, which I understand to many, represents the heart of what SimCity is.
“No one is blind to that. And if you're just completely turned off, even angered by the mere notion of any game called SimCity that is not a detailed, realistic urban simulator, I absolutely understand that viewpoint, and absolutely respect it."
