Gas Powered Games\' RTS title to hit the streets February 20th.
THQ today announced that Gas Powered Games' Supreme Commander has reached the gold master stage of development and is now entering manufacturing. Supreme Commander is a long-awaited 'spiritual successor' to the Total Annihilation series, and aims to bring a new scope and scale to the real-time strategy field. Developed for Windows PC, the game is scheduled to ship to retail outlets worldwide on February 20.
"Supreme Commander delivers the first-ever full Theatre of War zoom function, adding tremendous depth to the three story-driven campaigns and highly addictive multiplayer," said Chris Taylor, creative director and CEO, Gas Powered Games, and the mastermind behind the original Total Annihilation series. "We've taken RTS gameplay to a whole new level and I can't wait for fans to get their hands on it."
Supreme Commander takes place in the 37th century, where the galaxy has been ripped apart by three warring factions. Each faction aims to eradicate the universe of all opposition and end the 1000 year Infinite War. The world of Supreme Commander brings a new level of scope and scale to the RTS genre, introducing a new level of control over countless land, sea and air units, and enabling the use of a zoom function -- scrolling outward to see the entire Theatre of War or inward to focus on the action -- to command your forces to victory.
