Landon Donovan named 'FIFA Soccer 11' cover athlete

Los Angeles Galaxy star Landon Donovan has been chosen for the USA and Canada cover of FIFA Soccer 11.
Electronic Arts announced today that Los Angeles Galaxy star Landon Donovan has been chosen for the USA and Canada cover of FIFA Soccer 11, available in retail stores September 28. The 28-year-old soccer star will shared the cover with Real Madrid’s Kaka and Arsenal’s Carlos Vela.
Donovan started for the U.S. Men’s National Team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, scoring three goals in four matches, including an injury time goal in a 1–0 win over Algeria, leading the USA to win their group for the first time since 1930. Donovan also enjoyed an successful 2009, winning Major League Soccer’s Most Valuable Player award for the first time and MLS Goal of the Year 2009 while leading the Galaxy to the MLS Cup. This season Donovan has scored 5 goals and 11 assists in 13 games for LA.
Donovan is appearing on the cover of EA SPORTS' FIFA Soccer for the third time. He was also on the cover of FIFA Soccer 2003 and FIFA Soccer 07 in North America.
FIFA 11 introduces new Pro Passing, where pass accuracy is determined by a gamer’s ability on the control pad, and player skill, situation and urgency on the pitch, and 360° Fight For Possession, transforming physical play from individual lateral jostling to full 360° collisions involving multiple players.
