Iron Maiden tops new Guitar Hero II songlist, achievements revealed

By Casey Lynch Jan 10, 2007, 21:01 GMT

"You take my life and I\'ll take yours too..." seriously, if you don\'t know what song those lyrics are from, you should put down the Guitar Hero II controller and go play Barbie Horse Adventures.

Hold onto your flying V's - Iron Maiden's classic "The Trooper" will be topping the list of 10 new exclusive songs available on the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II.

Here's the full list of the 10 exclusive tracks plus some of the achievements.

- The Trooper (as made famous by Iron Maiden)

- Possum Kingdom (by the Toadies)

- Salvation (as made famous by Rancid)

- Life Wasted (as made famous by Pearl Jam)

- Billion Dollar Babies (as made famous by Alice Cooper)

- Hush (as made famous by Deep Purple)

- Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo (as made famous by Rick Derringer)

- Dead! (by My Chemical Romance)

- Drink Up (by Ounce of Self)

- Kicked to the Curb (by Noble Rot)

Here are some of the 50 achievements you can expect to vie for while wearing your fingers down to nubs:

Eddie Van Halen Award - Get a 500 note streak

Perfectionist - Get 100% on a song

200k Club - Get 200,000 points in a song

Scoremonger - Got an 8x multiplier

Rock Snob Award - Refused to play an encore

Life of the Party - Bought all characters

Record Collector - Bought all songs

Big Spender - Spent $10,000 at store

There are also achievements for completing the different difficulty levels - easy, medium, hard and expert - and for playing through the game’s two-player modes.

The one bit of sad news is the game doesn’t support online multiplayer. Boo!

There will be a leaderboard via Xbox Live, but, yeah, we’d rather play head to head over Xbox Live then read stats. Oh well, The Trooper easily makes up for all of that.
