Although the Christmas period might well be driving the pockets (and frustrations) of those consumers presently hunting a certain Nintendo-made videogame console, but it would appear that software appeal is not something the industry is looking to magnify as December 25 looms – at least not in terms of new releases. Credit: SEGA.Specifically, while gamers in the US are looking at a rather lacklustre week of fresh titles, the poor buggers over in the UK will be receiving exactly ZERO new releases this week.Those in the US can at least look forward to breaking the seasonal piggy bank for the videogame adaptation of Hollywood blockbuster The Golden Compass (PC), or the musical mayhem of Rock Band (PS2).Nintendo once again avoids its labelling as a manufacturer that doesn’t put out software, with the introduction of Corvette Evolution GT and Warhammer 40k: Squad Command on the diminutive DS, while the Wii comes equipped with Indianapolis 500 Legends and Nights: Journey of Dreams. Xbox 360 and PS3 owners can sample a little off-road speed with MX vs. ATV: Untamed… but nothing else.A handful of budget PC titles round out this final week prior to the arrival of Mr. Claus; not that frantic shoppers will likely care as they continue their quest to put a Wii beneath the tree for tiny Tim.Jump for the full lists – for what they’re worth.
